EXPRESS ENTRY
Express Entry is an online system introduced in 2015 by the Canadian Government to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. There are three (3) federal programs within Express Entry:
Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Express Entry uses a points-based system to rank candidates based on selection criteria such a skills, education, English or French language ability, and work experience among other factors. Candidates with highest scores in the pool, are invited to apply for permanent residence. After the candidate is drawn from the Express Entry pool and receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA), most complete applications with all supporting documents are processed in six (6) months or less.
Express Entry ensures that candidates who are most likely to succeed economically, rather than those simply first in line, are able to immigrate to Canada.
FAMILY CLASS SPONSORSHIP
The Canadian government recognizes the importance of having your family with you in Canada, which is why they created the Canadian Family Class Program. This program allows you to sponsor certain family members to come to Canada once you have become a permanent resident or if you are a Canadian citizen. Eligible family members include spouses, dependent children, parents and grandparents. Siblings and other relatives can only be sponsored if they meet specific criteria.
In some cases, the Canadian sponsor must prove they can financially support their family member for a specified period for the application to be approved.
Sponsorship applications involve a two-part process:
1. The sponsor is assessed to ensure they meet all required criteria.
2. The family member is assessed to ensure they meet the program’s criteria and are not inadmissible to Canada
PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS -(PNPs)
Provincial Nominee Programs are a crucial part of Canada’s immigration system, addressing country’s labor needs. Canada’s ten provinces and three territories can nominate immigrants through the PNP. To be nominated, candidates must have the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to the economy of that province or territory and must want to live there.
Each province has its own streams of immigration programs and criteria for its PNP, targeting specific groups. Provinces may aim to attract immigrants who fall into categories such as skilled or semi-skilled workers, students, business owners, and more.
In recent years, PNP admissions have increased significantly, becoming a leading pathway for economic class immigration to Canada. Some PNP streams are aligned with Canada’s Express Entry system, allowing candidates to receive an additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which virtually guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Express Entry.
SELF-EMPLOYED PERSONS
The Self-Employed Persons Program is designed for foreign nationals who possess relevant experience and demonstrate the intention and ability to establish themselves as self-employed individuals in Canada. Applicants must also show that they can make a significant contribution in one of the following areas:
Cultural activities
Athletics
Examples of occupations that fall under this category include performance artists, musicians, visual artists, journalists, technical directors, referees, and interior designers. Applicants must be able to prove their experience in these fields and their potential to contribute to Canadian society in their respective areas of expertise.
START-UP VISA
The Start-Up Visa Program is designed for innovative entrepreneurs who wish to establish a business in Canada. To be eligible, the business idea must be innovative, capable of creating jobs for Canadians, and competitive on a global scale.
Entrepreneurs applying for a start-up visa must first s Secure a minimum investment of either:
$200,000 from a designated Canadian venture capital fund, or
$75,000 from a designated Canadian angel investor.
Once these investment requirements are met, successful applicants, along with their families and core business team, can apply for work visas and permanent residency in Canada. This program offers a fast track to establish your business in a thriving, global market.
